The series fragments aim use the mnemonic device of my late mother’s vestiges, specifically incomplete quilt squares I collected from our family home. They are a testament of times spent together –collecting materials and adding to these squares. Finding this box formed a veritable vocabulary for my current work, unfolding to reveal the nature of my artwork which incorporates issues of identity by using the image as a mode of articulating, and from this coming to terms with memory.
